Matte finish
Matte laminate has a soft, non-reflective surface that tends to read as premium, understated, and modern. It also handles fingerprints and glare better than gloss, which matters under bright retail lighting. Matte is a common default choice for brands that want their print colours and typography to do the talking without competing with a shiny surface.
Gloss finish
Gloss laminate reflects light and makes colours appear more saturated and vivid, which can help a bag stand out at a distance on a crowded shelf. It's a natural fit for bright, colourful branding or products where vibrancy is part of the appeal — snacks and confectionery, for example. The tradeoff is more visible fingerprints and glare under strong lighting.
Spot UV
Spot UV applies a glossy coating only to selected areas of the design — typically a logo, icon, or key piece of text — layered over a matte base. The contrast between the flat matte background and the glossy raised-feeling accent creates a tactile, premium effect that's hard to achieve with either matte or gloss alone. It's most effective when there's a clear focal element you want to draw attention to, rather than across an entire busy design.
